Welcome To AAPI Central Ohio

The Central Ohio chapter of AAPI serves over 100 medical professionals including students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians of Indian origin in the Central Ohio Area.

AAPICO represents over one hundred physicians in the Central Ohio region. For over two decades, the organization has been providing charitable funds to benefit local and international organizations.

We have developed a new program to serve our local community. AAPICO members have always treated education with high importance and have the privilege of obtaining tutoring and counseling for their children to which many inner-city students lack access.

Students for Success (S4S) is a charitable program to provide SAT/ACT tutoring and college counseling for students in Columbus inner city schools. Our goal is for every student who participates in this program to pursue higher education upon graduation from high school. The program will provide, at no cost to the students and families, test prep books, an independent tutor, and a college counselor. The pilot program enrolled one student, who is currently enrolled with Inspired Education for college counseling.

Each student will meet with their coordinator on a regular basis to track progress. Progress will be measured via serial sample tests. Following the ACT/SAT examination, the student will begin meeting with a college counselor, who will guide them through the many steps of the admissions process including school selection, essay writing, and interview preparation. A strong educational background not only broadens a student’s career options but also has the potential to lift the whole family’s socioeconomic standing.

After completing the one-year pilot, we have expanded the program to include 8 students at East High School. This is a longitudinal program and the funding effort to support this project is anticipated to be annual. The estimated cost to support one student is $2,500. Funding will expand the number of deserving students on an ongoing basis.

Our Charitable Initiatives

AAPI-CO members have always treated education with high importance and have the privilege of obtaining tutoring and counseling for their children to which many inner-city students lack access. Thus, AAPI-CO has begun its own charitable program to provide SAT/ACT tutoring and college counseling for students in Columbus inner-city schools.

Our goal is for every student who participates in this program to pursue higher education upon graduation from high school. The pilot program has enrolled two students, currently tutored on a weekly basis. The program will provide, at no cost to the students and families, test prep books, an independent tutor, and a college counselor.

The second program offers direct scholarships to students already enrolled in college and require financial assistance. The program has already enrolled two OSU students, offered $2500 each, towards housing assistance allowing students to focus on their education.
