Kavita Sharma, M.D.

Kavita Sharma, MD, FACC is a cardiologist and lipidologist in OhioHealth Heart and Vascular Physicians. She practices non-invasive cardiology in multiple hospitals in central Ohio and sees patients in OhioHealth’s cardiovascular disease risk reduction and lipid clinic.

She formerly served at the Director of Prevention, Cardiac Rehabilitation and the Lipid Management Clinics at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and as an associate professor of clinical medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Dr. Sharma is board certified in cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. She received her medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Ill. She completed her internal medicine residency at Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center and her clinical cardiology fellowship training at Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center. She was a member of the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University.

Dr. Sharma was chief fellow of cardiology at Ohio State's Medical Center in 2010-2011. She has co-authored many peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts and book chapters and served as a Ohio State Principal Investigator in clinical trials. While at the Ohio State University, she worked closely with the FH Foundation on the 'Find FH' initiative. She has served as a co-investigator for the GOULD trial at OhioHealth. She served as co-lead of the Grant/Grady cardiology practice at OhioHealth from 2018-2020. She is a member of the National Lipid Association and the American College of Cardiology. She was a member of the Ohio Commission on Minority Health Expert Panel on Obesity.
